THE DITCH |
|
| A
difficult opening hole. Out of bounds on left
hand side beyond white stakes up to pathway
and then beyond line of pathway up to side
of green. From the tee the fairway is split
into two by a ditch that runs the length of
the fairway, the player must choose which
side to play the left hand side the safer
way into the green, choose the right and you
must take on the pond that guards the green. |
|
|
|
|
HESKETH |
 |
| A
short hole with an elevated green out of bounds
to the left from tee to green with a bunker
guarding the left hand side of green as well,
a tee shot that must be straight or to the
right to avoid all the trouble, do not be
short as a ditch will snaffle up your ball.
|
|
|
|
|
 WILLOW |
 |
| A
seemingly straight forward shot from the tee
that must be straight as out of bounds all
down left hand side but also a pond on the
right surrounded by trees and bushes approximately
150yds from tee, also a pond guards the left
hand side approach to the green. |
|
|
|
|
 WINDING |
 |
| This
hole is a must for boat enthusiasts as the
Shropshire Union Canal runs along side this
hole, from the tee your shot must be to the
right of the fairway as three large Oak trees
guards the approach to the green, two bunkers
on the left of the green catch the overzealous
shot to the green. |
|
|
|
|
 CATHEDRAL |
 |
| First
of the longer holes on the course the canal
is still to the left of the hole ,the tee
shot must be true as you also have trouble
to the right from the tee with a bank of thick
grass that runs all the way down the first
part of this hole, clear this trouble and
just when you think you are safe you must
clear a ditch that runs across the fairway
at approximately175 yds from the green, get
across this and then you will see that the
green is guarded by two greenside bunkers
a tough hole. |

BOARDMAN |
 |
| The
second short hole on the front nine this green
is surrounded by trouble to the front of the
green are two large bunkers to the left side
are three stepped ponds, to the back a deep
ditch a short hole but big trouble. |
| |
|
|
 LAYUP |
 |
| The
longest hole on the course from the elevated
tee this looks a straightforward hole not
much trouble but if your tee shot is not long
you will be left with a dilemma, do I take
on the large lake that splits the fairway
with my second shot or do I lay up and play
safe? The lake is 250.yds.from the tee the
carry is some 65.yds.to clear the water, once
this problem is over just another 300yds plus
to go the third shot should leave you with
the green side bunker to clear and on to the
large green. |
|
|
|
|
 LILY POND |
 |
| The
first dogleg, all the trouble is to the right
of this hole, not only O.O.B. all the way
from tee to green but you must avoid the small
lake and wood some 170yds from the tee the
big hitter may take all this trouble on but
you must decide is it worth it! |
|
|
|
|
FOUNTAIN |
 |
| A
great finishing hole to the front nine a good
tee shot down the fairway avoiding the water
on the right will leave you with another shot
over the water please avoid the resident swans,
ducks, and moorhens. Clear this trouble and
you only have the greenside bunker to miss
and your on the green, do not hit your approach
shot too long your getting it now yes more
water! |
